In SAP, there is function to save start variant for enhancement. For example, you developed new program and you need to default value of parameter on selection screen of this program. There are 2 ways. First is to default value in coding. Second, you can save selection-screen variant and default variant for this program. Let's see how to do for second method.
How to do?
1. Enter Transaction Code “SE38”
On this screen, you have to enter program name that you want
to default variant. From example is “ZAPTEST2”.
Under program name, there are choices of sub-objects. You
have to choose “Variants”.
Then, press <Change Button>
2. Enter start variant
Many consultants stuck at this step. When you try choose
variant from browse button, system will show nothing same as there is no
variant available. No need to do anything on this screen. What you have to do
is… Go to menu bar >> Utilities >> Transport Request
3. Check available vairant
On this screen, please ensure that you enter correct program
name before press <Execute Button>. If you know exactly variant name, you
can enter here.
4. Choose start variant
System displays a list of variant. You have to select
variant that you want to default and press <Continue Button>
5. Enter Transport Request
There is pop-up screen appear. Then, you enter Transport
Request that you want to save in.
